Fast and Reliable Test Kits for Food Allergen Detection

Food allergens represent an ever-present risk for individuals with allergies. Using reliable test kits to accurately detect potential allergen contaminations has become a critical necessity for food producers.

Romer Labs offers the most complete portfolio of allergen test kits for the qualitative (AgraStrip®) and quantitative (AgraQuant®) analysis of food allergens. These tests can be used for different applications, and cover all steps in the food production process:

AgraStrip® Lateral Flow Devices

The AgraStrip® allergen test kits are ready-to-use lateral flow devices (LFD) for on-site testing. These immunological tests allow a rapid analysis of a wide range of food samples within only 11 minutes (including extraction). AgraStrip® LFDs represent a fast and simple qualitative strip test method in which specific antibodies labeled with colloidal gold are used for visual color development at a test and control zone. The test kits come complete with strips, antibody coated incubation vials, extraction tubes, an extraction buffer, surface swabs and additional accessories.

AgraQuant® Elisa Tests

AgraQuant® test kits are accurate and reliable enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) in a quantitative format. Results are measured with a specific ELISA reader, such as the StatFax® or the BioTek® reader. These ELISA test kits are the ideal solution for a parallel measurement of multiple samples with assay times of as low as 60 minutes for up to 38 samples. AgraQuant® allergen test kits are sandwich ELISAs in a ready-to-use format to reduce handling errors and come with a set of 5 standards, an antibody coated plate, a conjugate, a substrate and a stop solution.

AgraQuant® Plus Elisa Tests

The AgraQuant® Plus test kits are accurate and reliable enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) specifically designed for a more efficient workflow. This quantitative test format uses unique extraction capsules that speed up the extraction of allergenic proteins, especially from processed matrices, to barely 1 minute. Incubation times of the assay are reduced to 3 x 10 minutes, leading to a total assay time of 30 minutes for up to 37 samples. AgraQuant® allergen test kits are sandwich ELISAs in a ready-to-use format to reduce handling errors and come with a set of 5 standards, extraction capsules, an antibody coated plate, a conjugate, a substrate and a stop solution.

Mycotoxin

Fast and Reliable Mycotoxin Test Kits

Increased concern for food and feed safety have brought mycotoxins to the spotlight and with that, the need for reliable and efficient mycotoxin screening.  

With over 35 years of experience in this field, Romer Labs offers the most comprehensive portfolio of mycotoxin test kits for the detection of regulated mycotoxins (aflatoxin, ochratoxin, fumonisin, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, t-2 and ht-2) in agricultural commodities such as raw grains and nuts, grain by-products and feed formulations.

AgraStrip® Lateral Flow Devices

The AgraStrip® test kits are ready-to-use lateral flow devices (LFD) for on-site testing. These allow a rapid analysis of a wide range of food and feed samples with an assay time as low as 3 minutes. The test kits are available in a qualitative or quantitative format. While qualitative LFDs can be read visually, quantitative tests are used with the AgraVision™ and AgraVision™ Pro readers to provide objective results and secure a consistent results documentation.

AgraQuant® Elisa Tests

AgraQuant® test kits are accurate and reliable enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) in a quantitative format. Together with a StatFax® or BioTek® ELISA reader, results can be directly interpreted and continuously documented. These ELISA test kits are the ideal solution for a parallel measurement of multiple samples with incubation times of as low as 15 minutes for up to 42 samples. Test kits are in a ready-to-use format to reduce handling errors and come with a set of 5 standards, an antibody coated plate, a dilution plate, a conjugate, a substrate and a stop solution.

AgraStrip® Pro WATEX Test System

The AgraStrip® Pro WATEX® test system enables the rapid and simple on-site quantification of mycotoxins in a variety of agricultural commodities. Both extraction and assay have been streamlined, reducing steps to a bare minimum while setting new standards in accuracy and usability. The test kits are available in a quantitative format and are used with the AgraVisionTM Pro reader, to provide objective results and secure a consistent results documentation.

Veterinary Drug Residues

With the increased use of antimicrobial drugs as well as feed additives in the aquaculture and animal food production sector, food safety concerns have put the spotlight on veterinary drug residues. Although instrumental methods are widely used in drug residues detection, their use in the routine screening of numerous samples is restricted by cost and instrumentation. Fast, reliable and efficient drug residues screening is therefore essential.

Easy-to-use solutions for veterinary drug analysis

Romer Labs offers the most complete portfolio of sensitive and easy-to-use veterinary drugs residue test kits for the detection of drug residues in various samples (e.g., tissue, muscle, urine, milk, egg, honey and feed samples).

The analyte specific test kits use ELISA technology and have low detection limits.

AgraQuant® Elisa Tests

AgraQuant® drug residue test kits are accurate and reliable direct competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) which operate on the basis of competition between the drug/metabolite in the sample and the drug enzyme conjugate for a limited number of specific antibody binding sites. After incubation, the unbound reagents are removed in a washing step. An enzyme conjugate and a chromogen substrate are added, causing a color reaction. The color intensity is measured with a microplate reader. It is inversely proportional to the drug concentration in the calibrator or sample. All required components, including a set of five to six calibrators needed to determine the result, are supplied within the test kits.n.

HygieneChek - Simple On-Site Hygiene Testing

HygieneChek™ dip slides are an easy-to-use, reliable and economic microbiological testing and transportation system. It is based on a double-sided agar paddle which is used to detect and identify various microorganisms commonly found in foods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The only equipment required for HygieneChek™ is an incubator. An optional extra would be a bench top autoclave.

The test system consists of a container with a screw cap and a removable agar paddle. The agar preparation becomes therefore obsolete. HygieneChek™ kits can be stored (with some exceptions) at room temperature and offer a long shelf-life compared to classic agar plates.

Cellulose Sponges for Food Production Applications

Dry and pre-moistened sterile cellulose sponges are convenient, ready-to-use products. They eliminate the costly and time-consuming steps of diluent preparation, sterilization and application to the sampling devices. They are designed to make sampling microbes from surfaces in food processing facilities and industrial settings more convenient. Sterility is guaranteed by exposing sampling products to irradiation. The use of different pre-moistening solutions enables a broad range of environmental and product (carcass) sampling applications.
